And seeing grey seals should definitely be on your bucket list. Between September and October, large numbers begin gathering and hauling out on the beaches for pupping, and in November you might even get the chance to see a newborn pup. One of my favourite ways to see these animals is on a dog-friendly seal cruise where you’ll get to see them from the water. Beans Boats welcome well behaved dogs on leads. Seeing seals in their natural habitat is one of those experiences that makes a North Norfolk trip feel really special – and your dog will probably enjoy the smells and sounds from the boat adventure as much as you. The huge expanse of sand, colourful beach huts and wide-open skies make Wells-next-the-Sea one of my favourite places in North Norfolk at any time of year, but there’s something really special about seeing it first thing in the morning. Plus by the time autumn rolls around sunrise isn’t until after 7 am, which means you won’t have to wake up at stupid o’ clock to experience it. Afterwards? Breakfast. Obviously. The North Norfolk Railway, also known as the Poppy Line, runs between Holt and Sheringham, taking you through some beautiful North Norfolk countryside. It’s a lovely way to see the area from a different perspective, particularly when the trees are starting to change colour. And once you arrive in Sheringham, you can explore the town, head down to the beach and find yourself something delicious to eat.
